Let us tell you how we covered Jodhpur in a day

Start your day visiting Toorji Ka Jhala

Toorji Ka Jhala is a popular stepwell located in the heart of Jodhpur. It was built in the 1740s by a queen of Maharaja Abhay Singh’s court, and was primarily used as a source of water for the nearby palace and gardens.

The stepwell is a beautiful example of Rajasthani architecture and is known for its intricate carvings and stunning blue tiles. The stepwell has three levels, with the water level being the lowest. The first level has a series of arches and pillars, while the second level has a small pavilion and a balcony that offers stunning views of the stepwell and the surrounding area. The third level has a dome-shaped structure that is believed to have been used for religious ceremonies.

The stepwell was restored in 2008 and has since become a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can climb down the steps to reach the water level and explore the various levels of the stepwell. The stepwell also has a cafe and several shops selling local handicrafts and souvenirs.

Blue City Walk

Before we start the most famous part of Jodhpur, here is a disclaimer – Most of Jodhpur’s blue streets are in the old town on the southwestern edge of the fort. Don’t expect every inch of every wall to be whitewashed blue. Otherwise, you may be a little disappointed.

Navchowkiya or “Nav Chowk”, also sometimes called “Navi/Nawi Chowk”, is one of the best places to find blue buildings in Jodhpur. To get here, it takes about 20 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by rickshaw from Ghanta Garh Clock Tower and central point of Sardar Market area. In order not to get lost, it is best to connect “Navchowkiya” to Google Maps and ask for guidance. It’s easy to get tangled up in the complex intertwining of wide alleys and narrow corridors. Therefore, continue west on ‘Clock Tower Road’ until you reach Navchowkiya.

As soon as you arrive, you will notice more and more blue buildings. Surprisingly, these streets are very quiet, aside from curious locals who may or may not like your photos. No street is more blue than another, so hang around, explore, and discover hidden gems.  You can also use this GPS Co-ordinate: 26° 17′ 51.852″ N 73° 0′ 51.084″ E

If you want to avoid the hustle, you can opt for a guided blue city walk tour

How to get to Pachetia Hill – It is very much within the blue city area. Come to Shinvi Haveli and ask the locals ‘Pachetia Hill’ or ‘Jwala Maa Mandir’. From Singhvi Haveli, walk another 15 minutes to reach the top of the hill.
